Turkiye: Oil and LPG imports increased in August

Turkiye’s total imports of oil and petroleum products increased by 0.3% in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 4 million 351 thousand 165 tons, and imports of Liquefied Petroleum Gases increased by 42% and reached 391 thousand 593 tons.

According to the “Oil Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority for August, imports of crude oil, which constitutes the largest item in Turkiye’s total oil imports, decreased by 3% and reached 2 million 852 thousand 705 tons.

During this period, imports of diesel types increased by 1% and reached 1 million 39 thousand 611 tons.

The remaining part of imports consisted of aviation and maritime fuels, gasoline and fuel oil types and other products.

Thus, total imports increased by 0.3% in August compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 4 million 351 thousand 165 tons.

While the highest import of crude oil and petroleum products was from Russia with 1 million 947 thousand 217 tons, this country was followed by Iraq with 988 thousand 134 tons and Kazakhstan with 539 thousand 166 tons.

On the other hand, gasoline sales increased by 8.5% in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 370 thousand 366 tons, and diesel sales decreased by 4%, reaching 2 million 229 thousand 333 tons.

Total sales of petroleum products were recorded as 2 million 761 thousand 647 tons, with a decrease of 1.5%.

Exports of petroleum products decreased by 4.6%

While Turkiye’s aviation fuel exports increased by 18% in August, reaching 548 thousand 733 tons, maritime fuel exports decreased by 27.1% and reached 77 thousand 670 tons.

Exports of gasoline types decreased by 89% to 26 thousand 914 tons, and exports of diesel types decreased by 15.1% to 181 thousand 54 tons.

Total exports of other products in the oil market decreased by 4.6% and reached 1 million 173 thousand 515 tons.

In August, the production of diesel types decreased by 0.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 1 million 452 thousand 846 tons, the production of gasoline types decreased by 8.8%, reaching 449 thousand 369 tons, and the production of aviation fuels increased by 29.2%, reaching 647 thousand 630 tons. Marine fuels production decreased by 14.8% and was calculated as 84 thousand 237 tons.

Total refinery production of petroleum products with other fuel types increased by approximately 3.7% and reached 3 million 492 thousand 352 tons.

LPG imports increased by 42% on an annual basis in August

According to the “Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority for August, the countries from which LPG is imported by refinery and distributor license holders are Algeria, the USA, Russia, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Italy and Georgia.

LPG imports increased by 42% in August compared to the same month last year, reaching 391 thousand 593 tons.

During this period, LPG exports by refinery and distributor license holders decreased by 30.4% and reached 18 thousand 966 tons.

Exports were made to 10 different countries and regions, including Romania, Austria, TRNC, Seychelles, Lebanon, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Greece, Denmark and Turkiye free zones.

LPG production decreased by 4.6% in the same period, reaching 96 thousand 614 tons.

Total LPG sales made by distributor license holders in August compared to the same month last year were calculated as approximately 407 thousand 502 tons.

In the month in question, autogas ranked first in sales with a market share of 82.4%. This was followed by cylinder LPG sales with 13.9% and bulk LPG sales with 3.7%.
