Minister of Commerce Bolat: Turkiye and Egypt are important power centers with trade volumes approaching $800 billion

Minister of Commerce Bolat said, “Turkiye and Egypt are important power centers with a total gross national product approaching $1.5 trillion and trade volumes approaching $800 billion, and our cooperation has much greater potential.”

Minister of Trade Omer Bolat started his two-day contacts in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.

Bolat visited Cairo, the capital of Egypt, with his business delegation upon the invitation of Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir Saleh.

Bolat and Saleh first held a bilateral meeting at the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Sharing a post about the meeting on his social media account, Bolat stated that he and Saleh, whom he met during his visit to Cairo, had a very productive meeting in which they discussed the economic developments between the two countries, trade, investments and joint projects in the field of contracting.

Drawing attention to the economic potential of the two countries, Bolat said, “Turkiye and Egypt are important power centers with a total population approaching 200 million, a total gross national product approaching $1.5 trillion and a trade volume approaching $800 billion, and our cooperation has a much greater potential. We believe that the meetings we held and our strengthened relations in every field are extremely important for our region.”

Following the meeting, an Egypt-Turkiye Round Table Meeting was held with the participation of both ministers.

Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) President Nail Olpak and Egyptian Industry Federation (FEI) President Mohamed Zaki Al-Sewedy also attended the meeting. Olpak and Sewedy signed the memorandum of understanding between DEİK and FEI at the ceremony held after the meeting.

The two-day trip aims to advance the commercial and economic relations between Turkiye and Egypt’s business world.
