November campaigns increased cargo mobility by 35% in Turkiye

Due to the November shopping campaigns, the density in the cargo sector increased by approximately 35%.

Fatih Onyol, President of the Turkish Cargo, Courier and Logistics Operators Association (KARID), said that the campaigns organized under various names last month increased the dynamism in shopping.

Stating that the cargo industry is also going through an active period due to these campaigns, Onyol explained that in the past years, there was a rush due to shopping being limited to certain days and that consumers may have problems in reaching the product they want to buy.

Onyol said, “Past logistical experiences have shown that it is not right to compress large-scale campaigns into limited periods of time. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, November campaigns have not been compressed into a single day, but have been distributed throughout the month. This situation offers consumers a healthier shopping environment and gives us the chance to carry out more perfect cargo operations.”

“The most active day of the month was November 24”

Pointing out that they doubled the carrying capacity of the sector with the operational improvements and investments made during the epidemic period, Onyol said:

“This year, there was an approximately 35% cargo increase in the sector with the November campaigns. The most active day of the month was 24 November. Both ‘Great Friday’ and ‘Teachers’ Day’ coincided with the same time period, but the cargo sector can carry much more cargo compared to previous years. Even our normal days are now very close to the campaign intensity of the past. On the other hand, we provide much higher quality, faster and trouble-free service. The continuation of our investments, the construction of new transfer centers, new branches and new personnel have been one of the biggest factors that strengthened our position.”

“The cargo industry is getting stronger with autonomous technologies and artificial intelligence”

Onyol stated that the sector provides direct employment to approximately 250 thousand people in Turkiye, and when indirect employment such as contract vehicles is taken into account, this number exceeds 1 million. Touching on the investments planned to be made for the development of the sector, Onyol said:

“The world is now changing and transforming very rapidly. The issues that we saw in science fiction movies a few years ago and that people found exaggerated are now found in our homes. Artificial intelligence and autonomous technologies are becoming smarter and more functional day by day. The cargo industry is getting stronger with developing autonomous technologies and artificial intelligence applications. In the future, the cargo industry will progress according to the scale of development in electric vehicles, artificial intelligence applications and autonomous vehicles.”
