Exports worth $2 billion 108 million 274 thousand 70 were made from Tekirdag, Kirklareli and Edirne in 2023.
Thrace, which has become a favorite of investors with its proximity to Europe and Istanbul and its sea, rail and road transportation opportunities, increases its export capacity every year.
The region’s export amount, which was $1 billion 856 million 326 thousand 58 in 2022, increased to $2 billion 108 million 274 thousand 70 in 2023.
According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent from the Turkish Exporters Assembly data, last year the grain, pulses, oilseeds and their products, and iron and non-ferrous metals sectors came to the fore in Thrace’s exports.
Tekirdag took the lead in regional exports. Exports worth $1 billion 825 million 224 thousand 87 were made from Tekirdag, which offers transportation by sea, rail and land. The highest export from the city was in March with $169 million 617 thousand 71, and the lowest export was in December with $142 million 702 thousand 3.
$201 million 300 thousand 93 were exported from Kirklareli, which ranks second in the region’s exports, and $81 million 748 thousand 90 were made from Edirne.
Tekirdag, which sends products to 173 countries, exported the most to Germany with $360 million 701 thousand 99.
Exports of $146 million 802 thousand 16 to the USA and $85 million 269 thousand 62 to France were made from this province.
Germany also ranked first in exports from Kirklareli. Exports of $24 million 425 thousand 17 were made to Germany, $19 million 590 thousand 39 to Bulgaria, and $14 million 571 thousand 14 to Kenya.
Last year, products were sold to 129 countries from Kirklareli and to 88 countries from Edirne.
The iron and non-ferrous metals sector made the most exports from Tekirdag, and the grains, pulses, oilseeds and products sectors from Kirklareli and Edirne.
While the iron and non-ferrous metals sector sells products worth $350 million 631 thousand 44 abroad from Tekirdag, the grains, pulses, oilseeds and products sector achieved exports of $93 million 372 thousand 44 from Kirklareli and $30 million 649 thousand 75 from Edirne.
