In all of 2023, Sarajevo Airport had a total of 1,362,007 passengers, which is only 15,341 passengers less or 1.1 percent less passengers than in 2022.
The reason for the slight decline lies in the fact that the Airport lost the base of Wizz Air, which accumulated about 400,000 passengers in 2022.
However, a real increase in traffic at the airport is expected this year, especially since several new carriers will launch routes, such as Ryanair, SunExpress and probably a Scandinavian company.
During the first quarter of 2024, Sarajevo Airport will have a total of 350,530 seats available to passengers.
Turkish Pegasus Airlines will be the largest carrier in Sarajevo in the first quarter in terms of capacity, just ahead of Turkish Airlines.
In recent years, Turkish Airlines has been the largest operator from Sarajevo airport.
Both carriers fly on the route Sarajevo Istanbul, with Pegasus flying to the “secondary” airport Sabiha Gocken.
By the way, Ryanair is starting flights from Sarajevo in the spring to for now six European destinations. It is expected that this company will then take over the position of the largest operator from Sarajevo Airport.
