Turkish Banking Sector Profit Surges 14% to ₺74.7 Billion in 2 Months, Loans Hit ₺12.4 Trillion

The profit of the banking sector increased by 14% in the January-February period, reaching ₺74.7 billion. Total loans reached ₺12.4 trillion.

The banking sector made a net profit of ₺74.7 billion in the first two months of the year. The net profit of the sector in the same period of 2023 was ₺65.6 billion.

According to the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) data, as of February, the ratio of the sector’s non-performing receivables to total cash loans was 1.55%. This rate was at 1.93% in February 2023.

In the same period, core capital adequacy ratio was recorded as 13%. In the same period last year, this ratio was at 14 percent.

The capital adequacy ratio of the sector remained unchanged compared to last year, reaching 17%.

Total assets of the sector were recorded as ₺24.7 trillion and total loans were recorded as ₺12.4 trillion.
