Turkish banking sector’s loan volume increased by ₺72 billion 708 million last week

The credit volume of the banking sector increased by ₺72 billion 708 million last week, reaching ₺10 trillion 751 billion 390 million.

According to the weekly bulletin published by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA), the sector’s credit volume increased by ₺72 billion 708 million as of October 13.

During the said period, total credit volume increased from ₺10 trillion 678 billion 681 million to ₺10 trillion 751 billion 390 million.

Total deposits in the banking sector, including interbanks, increased by ₺282 billion 87 million last week. Total deposits of the banking sector, which increased by 2.1% in the week in question, reached ₺13 trillion 623 billion 941 million.

The amount of consumer loans increased to ₺1 trillion 453.1 billion

According to the bulletin, the amount of consumer loans increased by ₺8 billion 956 million to ₺1 trillion 453 billion 147 million as of October 13. Of these loans, ₺445 billion 101 million consisted of housing loans, ₺87 billion 979 million of vehicle loans and ₺920 billion 66 million of consumer loans.

During this period, the amount of installment commercial loans increased by ₺3 billion 387 million, reaching ₺1 trillion 246 billion 185 million. Banks’ individual credit card receivables increased by 1.7%, reaching ₺977 billion 590 million. Of the individual credit card receivables, ₺428 billion 108 million consisted of installment debts and ₺549 billion 482 million consisted of non-installment debts.

Legal equities increased

As of October 13, non-performing receivables in the banking sector increased by ₺342 million compared to the previous week, reaching ₺169 billion 49 million. Special provisions were allocated for ₺144 billion 513 million of non-performing receivables.

In the same period, the legal equity capital of the banking system increased by ₺25 billion 156 million and reached ₺2 trillion 330 billion 234 million.
