Turkiye achieved the highest exports in history to 70 countries in 2023

Turkiye, which exported 12 thousand 886 products to more than 240 countries and customs regions last year, achieved the highest exports in history to 70 of these countries.

In the written statement made by the Ministry of Commerce, it was reminded that exports, which are the backbone of the economy, broke a record with $255.8 billion in the 100th anniversary of the Republic.

It was stated in the statement that the share of global exports was 0.55% in 2002, and that this share increased to 1.02% in 2022 and 1.06% at the end of September 2023.

The number of exporting companies increased by 339%

In the statement, it was pointed out that the number of exporting companies, which was 31 thousand 855 in 2002, increased by 339% to 139 thousand 830 in 2023, and the number of companies exporting for the first time last year was 38 thousand 574, and the contribution of these companies to total exports was $6.6 billion.

In the statement, it was pointed out that 12 thousand 886 products were delivered to more than 240 countries and customs regions and the highest exports in history were realized to 70 of these countries. “While the world imports of our most important commercial partner, the European Union (EU) countries, decreased by 16.1% in the January-November 2023 period, our country’s exports to the EU increased by 1.2% compared to the previous year, reaching $104.3 billion in 2023.”

In the statement, it was stated that exports to the Near and Middle East region, where commercial and economic relations have increased recently, increased by 2.2% to $46.2 billion last year, and exports to the Turkish republics reached $10.2 billion with an increase of 26.9% last year and broke a historical record. In the statement, it was stated that exports to the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) reached $67.3 billion with an increase of 3.68% last year and a new record was broken.

Exports exceeding $1 billion were achieved in 54 sections

In the statement, it was underlined that manufacturing industry exports rose to the highest value with $241 billion and received a share of 94.2% in total exports, and said, “The share of our medium-high and high-technology product exports increased to 40.3%. Aircraft and their parts, medicines, immune products, video recorders and photovoltaic cells stand out as the high-tech products we export most.”

In the statement, it was reported that the number of sections with exports exceeding $1 billion last year reached 54 and the highest exports in history were made in 39 sections, and it was emphasized that over $1 billion were exported to 49 countries in 2023, while 30 provinces reached an export figure of over $1 billion.

In the statement, which also provided information about the global exports of export products, the following was noted:

“We rank first in the world in the export of rebar, raw/block/semi-processed marble-travertine, cement, hazelnuts, flour, refined sunflower oil, raisins, dried apricots, dried figs, unshelled pistachios and bulgur, first in Europe in home textile exports, second in the world in carpet exports, 4th in the world in exports of buses, midibuses and minibuses, electric ovens, dishwashers and washing machines, and 5th in the world in exports of refrigerators and freezers and small electrical household appliances, 7th in the world in total textile and ready-made clothing exports, and 8th in the world in truck, pickup truck and pickup exports. With our effective policies and strategies to increase our exports to higher levels, we continue our efforts this year to reach our 2024 Medium Term Program target of $267 billion in goods export volume.”
