Turkiye: Dollar and interest rate forecast rose in Central Bank’s June survey

In the market participants survey of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye, the year-end dollar forecast rose to 26.18. The survey predicted that the interest rate will rise to 17.56% this month. The year-end inflation expectation also rose to 38.55%.

CBRT’s market participants survey for June has been published.

In the survey, the year-end CPI expectation rose from 37.17% to 38.55%. CPI expectation at the end of the next 12 months increased from 29.84% to 30.65%.

In the survey, a significant increase was seen in the year-end dollar forecast. The dollar estimate, which was 23.08 in the previous survey, increased to 26.18.

INTEREST FORECAST INCREASED

While the discussions on the interest rate policy continued, the expectations for an increase were also reflected in the survey. While the one-week repo rate expectation for the current month end was 8.50% in the previous survey period, it increased to 17.56% in this survey period.

The expectation for the repo auction interest rate at the end of the next 12 months rose from 11.11% to 19.30%.

The year-end growth expectation rose from 3.7% to 3.8%.
