Turkiye: Eastern Black Sea region’s honey export reached $2.7 million

Honey exports from the Eastern Black Sea region in 11 months increased by 72% compared to the same period last year, reaching $2 million 723 thousand 799.

Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, said that 910 tons of honey were exported from the region in 11 months of the year.

Gurdogan emphasized that $2 million 723 thousand 799 were earned from the export in question. “In the same period last year, $1 million 585 thousand 290 of income was obtained from our region, equivalent to 642 tons. Our honey exports increased by 42% in quantity and 72% in value compared to the same period last year.”

Gurdogan pointed out that the honey exported from the Eastern Black Sea region found buyers in 13 countries and stated that the USA leads among these countries with $1 million 211 thousand 66.

Expressing that they attach importance to efforts to increase exports, Gurdogan noted that honey exports can be further increased by exporting organic, geographically indicated and branded products.
