Turkiye to be Third Largest Citroen Market Globally

Citroen, which ended 2022 with the highest sales figures in Turkiye, achieved a record-breaking sales performance in 2023, making Turkiye its third-largest market globally.

According to Citroen Turkiye General Manager Selen Alkım, “Our sales figure in 2023 has made Turkiye Citroen’s third-largest market in the world. This is a significant achievement for both the brand and Turkiye .”

Citroen Turkiye continues its growth in the Turkish market. After reaching record sales in Turkiye in 2022, Citroen Turkiye announced strong growth figures for 2023.

In 2023, Citroen Turkiye completed the year with a total of 63,153 units sold, managing to increase its sales by 119% compared to 2022. Doubling its sales, the brand also set a historic record by achieving the highest sales figure in the Turkish market.

With this figure, the brand climbed three places in the overall market, finishing 7th in total sales. Citroen closed the year with an impressive growth rate above the market average, securing a 5.1% market share.

Ranked in the Top 5 in Light Commercial Vehicles

Citroen Turkey’s outstanding performance not only brought success to the brand but also earned it the title of ‘The Fastest Growing Light Commercial Vehicle Brand of the Year’ at the Sales and Communication Awards organized by the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD).

Finishing last year in the 5th position in light commercial vehicle sales with a volume of 17,758 units, Citroen reached remarkable success. Additionally, with 45,395 units of passenger car sales, the brand completed the year in the 8th position in the passenger car market.

Selen Alkım, Citroen Turkey General Manager, expressed satisfaction with their achievements in 2023. She stated, “We started the year by being selected as the ‘Most Reputable Passenger Car Brand of the Year’ at The ONE Awards Integrated Marketing Awards organized by Marketing Turkiye. We completed last year by more than doubling our sales compared to 2022, proving that this award was not a coincidence. Our ‘Fastest Growing Brand in Light Commercial Vehicles’ award also crowned our achievements.”

Selen Alkım emphasized that Citroen models achieved impressive results in their segments. The C4 model became the third most preferred model in the compact hatchback class with 5,804 units sold throughout the year. Similarly, the C3 model secured its place in the top 5 in the B-HB segment with 7,844 units sold. The C5 Aircross, with 8,434 units sold, became the second most preferred passenger car model. The C4 X, with 10,704 units sold, became the best-selling Citroen model among passenger cars.

The success of Berlingo, recognized as the ‘Fastest Growing Brand’ in light commercial vehicles, was highlighted by Alkım. Berlingo, with 8,983 units sold, reached the second position in its segment and became the best-selling commercial model for the brand, achieving an 18% market share in its segment and contributing to a 6.7% market share in the light commercial vehicle market.

At the beginning of the year, they set a sales target of 49,250 units for 2023, and Selen Alkım reminded that they exceeded this goal by a considerable margin. She concluded, “Our sales figure in 2023 has made Turkiye Citroen’s third-largest market in the world. This is a significant achievement for both the brand and Turkiye. As Citroen Turkiye, we are ready for 2024. With ambitious models like the e-C3, which we will introduce to the market in the third quarter of the year, we believe that we will achieve similar successes in 2024.”
