Turkiye’s aquaculture production increased by 6.2%

Turkiye’s aquaculture production increased by 6.2% in 2022 compared to the previous year and reached 849 thousand 808 tons.

Turkish Statistical Institute announced the fisheries statistics for 2022.

Accordingly, the production of fishery products increased by 6.2% compared to the previous year and reached 849 thousand 808 tons. Sea fish constituted 30% of the production, 5.6% other seafood obtained in the same way, 3.9% inland aquaculture products and 60.6% aquaculture products.

Fisheries of fisheries increased by 2.1% in the said period. While the total production by hunting was 335 thousand 3 tons, aquaculture production was 514 thousand 805 tons. Seafood catches increased by 2.3% compared to the previous year, while inland fisheries increased by 0.4%.

Anchovy caught the most in the seas

The amount of sea fish caught was 254 thousand 535 tons. When the distribution of these fish according to their species is examined, anchovy was recorded as the fish caught in the highest amount with 125 thousand 980 tons. Anchovy was followed by bonito-torik with 49,892 tons and sardines with 16,729 tons.

Production through aquaculture increased by 9.1% in 2022. 368 thousand 742 tons of aquaculture took place in the seas and 146 thousand 63 tons in inland waters. The most important fish species grown were trout with 145 thousand 649 tons in inland waters, sea bass with 156 thousand 602 tons and sea bream with 152 thousand 469 tons in the seas.
