Turkiye’s cement, glass and ceramic sectors increased their exports by 78% in 5 years

Cement, Glass, Ceramic and Soil Products Exporters’ Association (CCSIB) President Erdem Cenesiz stated that they have achieved a significant success by increasing their exports by 78% in the last five years.

According to the statement made by the association, the 5th Champions of Export Award Ceremony, organized by CCSIB, which is the sole and coordinating exporter association with over 2 thousand members and includes exporting companies of the ceramics, cement and glass sectors, was held with the participation of sector representatives and exporting companies.

A total of 78 awards were presented to 46 companies at the ceremony opened by Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) President Mustafa Gultepe, CCSIB Chairman of the Board of Directors Erdem Cenesiz, CCSIB Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors Abdulhamit Akcay and Tansu Kumru.

Cenesiz, whose speech at the ceremony was included in the statement, stated that they increased their exports, which were $3.2 billion in 2018, the first year they held the ceremony, to $5.6 billion by the end of 2022.

Stating that they have achieved a significant success by increasing their exports by 78% in the last five years, Cenesiz said: “Moreover, these five years were years in which many crises and uncertainties were experienced consecutively, such as the trade war between the USA and China, the Covid-19 epidemic, restrictions, the Russia-Ukraine War, energy supply and costs, and the concern about the economic crisis surrounding the world. Despite all this, with this success, our companies have demonstrated how flexible and resilient they are in the face of crises, their knowledge and experience. They added value to our sectors by making the most of the opportunities in crises. I congratulate all our companies for their success.”

“We produced added value three times the average of Turkiye’s industrial exports in 2022”

Cenesiz stated that the total exports of the three sectors increased by 17% in value in 2022 compared to the previous year, and said, “All three of our main sectors continued to be at the top of the world production and export rankings. In addition to the increase in our exports, we have expanded into new markets while deepening in our existing markets with our environmentally friendly production in accordance with international standards, our logistics power, production capacity, human resources and quality in every field. As a result of all this, we produced added value three times the average of Turkiye’s industrial exports.”

Stating that they started the 100th year of the Republic with the aim of increasing exports, as every year, Cenesiz said:

“However, we revised this target due to the slowdown in the construction sector as a result of the worldwide economic recession, the contraction in demand due to crisis concerns and cost increases. We exported $3.3 billion in the first 8 months of this year. Our goal is to maintain our export value from last year by meeting the increasing domestic demand after the earthquake. We believe that as of 2024, we will increase our exports again, depending on global developments, and that we will maintain this increase for many years. Just as we have successfully overcome global crises for years, this time we will emerge with new successes.”

At the ceremony held after the opening speeches, awards were presented in the categories of “Companies with the Highest Export”, “Company with the Highest Export Unit Price” and “Company with the Most Increase in Exports” in 2022.
