The United Kingdom became the 4th country to which Turkiye exported the most in the first two months. This country’s share in Turkiye’s exports was 5.47%.

The countries with the most exports in the said period were Germany, the USA, Italy and the United Kingdom, respectively.

The sector that exported the most to the United Kingdom in this period was the automotive industry with $694.5 million. Exports of the sector increased by 37.1%.

The highest export from Turkiye to the United Kingdom was from Istanbul with $693.5 million, followed by Kocaeli, Bursa, Sakarya and Izmir.

“Our entry into 2024 is also quite hopeful.”

Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) President Mustafa Gultepe, in his assessment of the issue to the AA correspondent, said that the United Kingdom continues to be an important market for Turkiye’s exports.

Reminding that the United Kingdom was Turkiye’s fourth most important export partner last year, Gultepe said, “The increasing trend continues in 2024. Last year, we exported $12.43 billion to the United Kingdom.”

Reminding that they achieved the best January-February period in history in general exports in the first two months of the year, Gultepe said, “Our entry into 2024 was also very promising. During this period, there was a significant increase in our exports to the United Kingdom. While export figures reached almost $2 billion, this corresponds to a 15% increase compared to the same period last year.”

“The success of our exporters is a harbinger of future collaborations and growth opportunities.”

Mustafa Gultepe stated that the high rate of increase in exports to the United Kingdom shows that exporters are growing and gaining competitive power in the United Kingdom market.

Noting that more than 5,500 companies export to the United Kingdom indicates how important this market is for Turkish companies, Gultepe said, “Both the product quality and diversity of our companies and the strengthening of commercial relations with the United Kingdom were effective in this success.”

Gultepe said, “Sectorally, in the first 2 months of the year, the automotive, electrical-electronics and ready-made clothing sectors stand out in exports to the United Kingdom. During this period, we recorded serious increases especially in the automotive, steel and textile sectors.”

Stating that the positive developments in the UK market continue to strengthen Turkiye’s position in international trade, Gultepe said, “These successes of our exporters are a harbinger of future collaborations and growth opportunities. Continuing this momentum and further deepening trade relations with the United Kingdom will play a critical role in increasing Turkiye’s competitiveness in the global market.”
