The terms of foreign trade, which was calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index and was obtained as 80.7 in January 2023, increased by 5.4 points and became 86.1 in January 2024.
Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the foreign trade indices for January.
Accordingly, the export unit value index decreased by 3.3% in January compared to the same month of the previous year. Index compared to the same month of the previous year, increased by 0.6% in food, beverages and tobacco, decreased by 5.9% in raw materials (excluding fuel), decreased by 13.9% in fuels, and decreased by 2.9% in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco).
Export quantity index increased by 7.0%
Export quantity index increased by 7.0% in January compared to the same month of the previous year. Index compared to the same month of the previous year increased by 21.4% in food, beverages and tobacco, increased by 0.8% in raw materials (excluding fuel), increased by 34.2% in fuels, and increased by 3.7% in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco).
Import unit value index decreased by 9.3%
Import unit value index decreased by 9.3% in January compared to the same month of the previous year. Index compared to the same month of the previous year, decreased by 5.3% in food, beverages and tobacco, decreased by 31.8% in fuels, decreased by 5.6% in raw materials (excluding fuel), decreased by 1.2% in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco).
Import quantity index decreased by 13.9%
Import quantity index decreased by 13.9% in January compared to the same month of the previous year. Index compared to the same month of the previous year, decreased by 0.2% in food, beverages and tobacco, increased by 3.9% in raw materials (excluding fuel), increased by 8.9% in fuels, and decreased by 5.6% in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco).
