Significant Increases in Automotive, Appliance, and Solar Panel Production Drive Growth
In 2023, Turkiye’s industrial sector achieved remarkable sales, with total revenues amounting to ₺13.3 trillion, according to the latest annual industrial product statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). This marks a substantial increase from the ₺8.9 trillion recorded in 2022 and the 4.2 trillion lira in 2021.
Key Production Figures
The report highlights significant production volumes, including:
- 1,203,933 automobiles
- 9,986,534 household refrigerators and freezers
- 280,588,963 tons of ready-mixed concrete
- 1,559,366 hermetic boilers
- 17,373,413 solar panels
- 877,479 motorcycles
Sectoral Contributions
Food industry products constituted 13.7% of the total sales value, followed by primary metal industry products at 10.7%, motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers at 9.5%, and textile products at 6.3%.
Technology Level and Sales Distribution
Products classified under high technology represented 3.4% of the total sales value, while those in the low and medium-low technology categories accounted for 68.5%. The medium-high technology group contributed 28.1%.
Top-Producing Regions
The motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers manufacturing sector saw 80.4% of its total sales value concentrated in five provinces: Bursa (30.2%), Kocaeli (28.4%), Sakarya (12.3%), Aksaray (5.6%), and Izmir (3.9%).
Outsourcing Trends
Contract manufacturing played a significant role in the manufacturing industry, with apparel production leading at 36.4% of total sales value, followed by textile products at 18% and fabricated metal products at 8.2%.
These figures underscore Turkiye’s robust industrial production capabilities and the sector’s crucial role in the national economy, highlighting significant growth and diversification across various industries.
