Turkiye’s machinery exports surpassed $28 billion in 2023

Marking an 11% increase compared to the previous year, according to consolidated data from the Machinery Exporters’ Association (MAİB).

The total machinery export, including free zones, reached $28.1 billion, with Germany being the primary market, accounting for $3.5 billion and a 7.6% increase in exports despite horizontal machinery import trends. Russia followed closely, with a nearly 68.3% surge, approaching $3 billion in exports.

Noteworthy growth was also observed in exports to the United States, Italy, and the United Kingdom, all exceeding $1 billion, with increases of up to 10%. The top three product groups in exports were “domestic and industrial cooling machines,” “internal combustion engines and components,” and “construction and mining machinery.” The export of machine tools increased by 15.3%, reaching the threshold of $1.5 billion, and the sector’s average export price per kilogram rose from $6.2 to $7.2.

Kutlu Karavelioğlu, President of MAİB, highlighted the importance of closing the year with growth amid a 1% contraction in global machinery exports. Looking forward, the goal for the new year is set at $30 billion. Karavelioğlu emphasized the advantage gained by early integration with the European Green Deal, expecting significant benefits for attracting investment to the sector.

Despite the notable decline in global machine orders according to the latest industrial PMI indicators, Karavelioğlu pointed out that Turkish machinery manufacturers have positively differentiated themselves from rival countries throughout the year.
