Turkiye’s sea snail exports increased by 100%

Sea snail exports from Turkiye in the January-July period increased by 100% and reached $9 million 765 thousand 9.

Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union Deputy Chairman of the Board Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan said that 935 tons of sea snails were exported from Turkiye in 7 months.

Stating that an income of $9 million 765 thousand 9 was obtained from the foreign sale in question, Gurdogan stated that the export of sea snails increased by 26% in terms of amount and 100% in revenue, compared to the same period of the previous year, which earned $4 million 891 thousand 943 in return for 741 tons.

Mostly exported to South Korea

Emphasizing that the most sea snails from Turkiye were exported to the Republic of South Korea with $4 million 184 thousand 235, Gurdogan said, “This country was followed by the People’s Republic of China with $2 million 277 thousand 369, Japan with $1 million 535 thousand 4, Spain with $1 million 452 thousand 435, Taiwan with $308 thousand 522, Georgia with $4 thousand 794 and Azerbaijan-Nakhichevan with $2 thousand 650.

Pointing out that 61% of the income obtained from sea snail exports in 7 months is obtained from the Black Sea, Gurdogan said:

“529 tons of sea snails were exported from the Black Sea to 6 countries, especially the Republic of South Korea, and $5 million 975 thousand 655 were earned. In the same period of 2022, $3 million 54 thousand 863 were obtained from the export of 435 tons of sea snails from the region. Accordingly, exports from the region increased by 21% in quantity and 96% in revenue.”

Pointing out that the product in question provides a significant amount of foreign currency inflows to the country and the region, Gurdogan noted that it is important for the public to adapt the legislation according to the conditions of the day and to pave the way for exporters.
