Turkiye: Export of $11.8 billion from the hardware sector in 2022

Exports of the hardware sector increased by 9% in 2022 compared to the previous year and reached $11.8 billion.

In the statement made by the Hardware Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (HISIAD), HISIAD’s Chairman of the Board Cetin Tecdelioglu’s evaluations at the meeting where the members of the association came together.

Tecdelioglu stated that they provide employment for approximately 750 thousand people as a sector and that they export to the world from every province of Turkiye, and explained that they have revived the brand of the hardware industry.

Noting that there are 14,550 companies operating in the hardware sector in Turkiye, Tecdelioglu said, “We are a very big family with 750 thousand employees and we have achieved record exports this year. Compared to the previous year, our exports reached $11.8 billion with an increase of 9%. We reached the level of $5.3 in export unit value per kilogram. This means 3.5 times the average of Turkiye.”

Emphasizing that their priority target in exports should be EU countries, Tecdelioglu stated that exports to European Union countries increased by 8% in 2022 and reached $4.5 billion.

Tecdelioglu stated that they signed an export sales of $2.5 billion to other European countries with an increase of 19.2%. He explained that the highest export was made to Germany with $1.3 billion, followed by Iraq with $763 million and Russia with $616 million.

“Specialized organized industrial zone can be established”

Cetin Tecdelioglu pointed out that the hardware sector should be given importance and said, “We need to receive support from incentives, organized industrial zones, employment and education as every sector does. We must increase our strength and do more with our cooperation. Why not establish a specialized organized industrial zone? Why shouldn’t there be a department about hardware in vocational high schools, not education? We must all work together to make this happen.”

Tecdelioglu stated that they will organize Hardware Eurasia, the hardware fair of Eurasia, on May 24-27 this year, and that they will continue to contribute to the sector’s exports with the fair.
