Commercial cooperation between Turkiye and Kuwait is increasing

Minister of Commerce Omer Bolat said that as of the first 10 months of the year, Turkiye’s exports to Kuwait were $575 million and the mutual trade volume was $680 million.

Turkiye-Kuwait Trade Delegation and bilateral business meetings, organized by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) and Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters’ Associations (ITKIB) under the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce, were held in Kuwait.

Minister of Commerce Omer Bolat, Kuwaiti Minister of Industry and Trade Muhammed Osman al-Ayban, Turkiye’s Ambassador to Kuwait Tuba Nur Sonmez, TIM President Mustafa Gultepe and business people attended the meeting.

Speaking at the opening of the event, Bolat stated that, within the scope of the visit, he will hold bilateral meetings with Kuwait Deputy Prime Minister for Economy and Investments and Minister of Petroleum Saad Hamed Nasser al-Barak and Minister of Industry and Trade Muhammed Osman al-Ayban.

Stating that he will also meet with Kuwaiti business people at the Turkish Embassy in Kuwait, Bolat said that they aim to accelerate the relations between Turkiye and Kuwait with a full program.

Omer Bolat stated that Kuwait is Turkiye’s gateway to the Gulf, and Turkiye is Kuwait’s path to Europe and Central Asia. “Kuwait is a rare brother country that has always been a friend of Turkiye in the Gulf region and the Islamic world, and with which we have excellent relations, with which we almost never have any disputes or disagreements in the political, cultural, economic, commercial and investment fields.

That’s why the friendship, brotherhood and alliance between Turkiye and Kuwait is truly a very solid and unshakable alliance relationship.”

“427 Kuwaiti companies trade and invest in Turkiye”

Reminding that the mutual trade volume between the two countries is around $1 billion as of 2022, Minister Bolat continued as follows:

“Turkiye has an export of $673 million. Although there is a slight decrease in bilateral trade this year due to the recession in the world economy and the decline in world trade, we believe that this is temporary. As of the first 10 months of this year, Turkiye’s exports are at $575 million and mutual trade is at $680 million. We will rapidly increase this through mutual negotiations, fairs, purchasing delegation programs, general trade delegations and sectoral trade delegations programs.”

Bolat reminded that the national UCAV Bayraktar TB2 export contract process between the Kuwaiti state and Baykar has been successfully completed, and stated that Turkish business people have achieved important contracting successes in Kuwait.

Stating that the two countries have developed human relations as well as commercial relations, Bolat emphasized that the Kuwaiti people and the Kuwaiti state, known for their friendship, brotherhood and philanthropy, have an unshakable friendship and brotherhood with Turkiye.

Minister Bolat stated that 427 Kuwaiti companies are trading and investing in Turkiye and expressed his belief that investments worth nearly $2 billion spread across various fields will increase.
