Eid al-Adha Aftermath on the First Trading Day at Borsa Istanbul: Started with an Increase (Is the Stock Market Open?)

Borsa Istanbul commenced its first trading day after the Eid al-Adha holiday.

The BIST 100 index opened the day with a 1.12% increase, starting at 10,588 points. Among sector indices, sports showed the highest gain with 2%, while paper and printing saw a decline of 3.38%. Investors awaited the opening of trading on Borsa Istanbul following the Eid al-Adha holiday. Today, Borsa Istanbul resumed trading activities after the holiday break. At the opening, the BIST 100 index rose by 116.84 points, or 1.12%, reaching 10,588.16 points compared to the previous close.

The banking index increased by 1.53% and the holding index by 0.93%. Among sector indices, sports led with a 2% gain, while paper and printing was the sole sector with a 3.38% decline.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul maintained a bullish trend, closing with a 0.76% increase at 10,471.32 points.

Analysts noted mixed movements in global markets amid expectations that the US Federal Reserve will begin interest rate cuts this year. Today, investor focus shifts to the interest rate decision of the Bank of England (BoE). From a technical perspective, analysts highlighted 10,600 and 10,700 as resistance levels for the BIST 100 index, with support at 10,400 and 10,300 points.
