European stocks except Spain end day higher

Italy’s FTSE MIB, London’s FTSE 100 both increase 0.20%

All major European markets, except Spain, closed Thursday looking up as US jobless claims hit the lowest level since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, rose 1.48 points, or 0.31%, to 474,600.

London’s FTSE 100 climbed 14 points, or 0.20%, to 7,163 and Germany’s DAX 30 increased 16.10 points, or 0.10%, to 15,840 points.

Frances’ CAC 40 was slightly up by 0.06%, or 4.39 points, to 6,763 points.

Italy’s FTSE MIB went up 51.7 points, or 0.20%, to hit 26,233,while Spain’s IBEX 35 slipped 10.10 points, or 0.11%, to 8,981.

Investors will also follow US nonfarm payrolls report set be announced on Friday.

Asia’s major stock markets, except the Asia Dow, also ended Thursday with gains.
