Turkish stocks begin new week at record high

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns 64.07 points at opening session

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Monday at 6,501.80 points, a record-high level, as it increased by 1%, or 64.07 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed last week by hitting a record-high closing level of 6,437.74 points, up 1.09%, with a daily trading volume of 101 billion Turkish liras ($3.86 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.2530 as of 10.05 a.m. local time (0705GMT),the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 29.4890, and a British pound traded for 33.3480 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $78.97 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,957.65.
