Turkiye and Algeria expand partnership in energy field

Sonatrach, Algeria’s national oil and gas company, and Turkish Pipelines and Petroleum Transport Inc. (BOTAS) discussed long-term commercial relations within the framework of liquefied natural gas purchase-sale agreements and ways to expand the partnership.

In the written statement made by Sonatrach, it was stated that Sonatrach General Manager Resit Hashishi and BOTAS General Manager Abdulvahit Fidan met in Algeria.

In the statement, it was noted that during the meeting, the two parties discussed the existing long-term commercial relations between Sonatrach and BOTAS within the framework of contracts regarding the purchase and sale of liquefied natural gas.

In the statement, it was emphasized that the parties agreed to strengthen their relations, and it was stated that Hashishi and Fidan exchanged views on expanding their partnership and exploring new business opportunities.

In the statement, it was reminded that Sonatrach has been supplying liquefied gas to BOTAS since 1988, and it was emphasized that Algeria decided to extend the contract to supply liquefied natural gas to Turkiye in an amount reaching 5.4 billion cubic meters per year in 2020 until 2024.

Last week, Sonatrach General Manager Hashishi said at an energy conference in Italy that the company’s gas production was 130 billion cubic meters, 45 billion of which was allocated for domestic consumption and the rest for export.
