Remote technical support from Turk Telekom with 5G and AR technology

Turk Telekom, again breaking new ground in Turkey, tested remote maintenance and technical support services over 5G using AR (Augmented Reality) technology in cooperation with Nokia. In this context, AR-supported, real-time, high-definition, very low-latency support was provided to the field technician via the VSight Remote remote maintenance and technical support platform by the expert at the center.

Constructing the infrastructure to support 5G and next-generation technologies in Turkey, Turk Telekom accelerates Turkey’s digital transformation with its value-generating projects. In this context, Turk Telekom broke new ground once again, realizing remote maintenance and technical support services over 5G with AR technology.

Turk Telekom successfully provided a solution to an internet customer with AR-supported remote maintenance and technical support on the 5G test network it established in Ankara’s Aydınlıkevler district in cooperation with Nokia.

REAL-TIME COLLABORATION WITH SMART GLASSES WITH HD CAMERA AND 5G CONNECTION

In the trial, real-time 5G and AR technologies were combined. All controls and interventions, from the access systems serving the Internet customers to the modem connection inside the house, were carried out by a field technician using smart glasses and an AR-supported phone. The technician in the field was provided with remote support by the expert at the center through real-time, high-definition, very low-latency video conferencing and three-dimensional file sharing via the AR Platform. Thus, the quality and speed of the technical service offered to the customer was increased.

‘WE IMPROVE EFFICIENCY IN FIELD OPERATIONS WITH 5G AND AR TECHNOLOGY’

Turk Telekom Technology Deputy General Manager Yusuf Kirac stated that they contributed to the development of the digital ecosystem in order to use 5G and AR technologies in the fields of maintenance and technical support. “We used the VSight Remote AR-supported remote maintenance and technical support platform developed by a local company, VSight, in the remote technical support service trial we conducted with Nokia. Working together with our local companies in the 5G applications we realize gives us a special excitement. With this trial, we have taken our work in the field of productivity in the industry one step further with 5G, showing that our field operations are made faster and easier, and that the service and support processes for our customers are further improved. As Turk Telekom, we will continue our work in different areas of use of 5G at full speed.”

About the cooperation in question, Nokia Turkey General Manager Ozgur Erzincan said, “As Nokia, we continue to support all domestic companies, small and large, that develop applications for 5G usage scenarios in Turkey, together with Turk Telekom. Our expectation is to contribute to the Turkish 5G Ecosystem by supporting these companies’ access to new customers and markets.”

FAULTS AND INTERVENTION PROCESSES WILL NOW BE MANAGED REMOTELY

The trial, carried out using the VSight Remote AR supported remote maintenance and technical support platform and Nokia Mesh WiFi Beacon devices, produced by the local startup VSight, revealed that operations can be managed faster, smarter and more cost-effectively. Thanks to these platforms, which were developed using 5G and AR technologies, it is aimed to eliminate physical restrictions in the organizational structure of institutions and in daily life, and to enrich the reality phenomenon and to realize new business areas.
