Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar wished that the Turkish-Greek Energy Forum would be the beginning of a period of new opportunities in the field of energy between the two countries.
According to the statement made by the Ministry, Bayraktar sent a video message to the Turkish-Greek Energy Forum, which was held for the first time.
Drawing attention to Turkiye’s role in Europe’s energy security in his message, Bayraktar said, “We hope that the Forum will be the beginning of a period of new opportunities in the field of energy between Turkiye and our neighbor Greece. Turkiye plays an important role in Europe’s energy security. Maintaining regional cooperation is an important part of our national and international energy security goals. We are committed to increasing partnerships and value increasing efforts among the private sector as well as intergovernmental cooperation.”
Addressing the issue of electrification of systems, Bayraktar said, “The latest memorandum of understanding between TEIAS (Turkish Electricity Transmission Joint Stock Company) and IPTO (Greek Independent Energy Transmission Operator) is an example of the activities we desire. We must continue to support efforts to decarbonise the region for the eventual electrification and digitalization of our energy systems.”
