While the number of foreign-controlled enterprises in Turkiye reached 6 thousand 111 by the end of 2021, their share in total turnover was calculated as 12.7%.
Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the “foreign controlled enterprise statistics” for 2021.
Accordingly, the number of foreign-controlled enterprises was 6 thousand 154 in 2020 and 6 thousand 111 in 2021. The share of these startups in total turnover was recorded as 13.8% in 2020 and 12.7% in 2021.
Tobacco products manufacturing was determined as the activity with the highest turnover share of foreign-controlled enterprises in 2021, with 91.8%. The second activity with the highest turnover share of foreign-controlled enterprises was insurance, reinsurance and pension funds with 46.2%.
FOREIGN CONTROLLED ENTERPRISE
In the distribution of foreign-controlled enterprises by country, the country with the largest share in terms of number and turnover was recorded as Germany, and the country with the second largest share was the USA.
Of the 6 thousand 111 foreign-controlled enterprises, 1025 were controlled by Germany. The share of the turnover achieved by these enterprises in 2021 in the total foreign-controlled turnover was calculated as 13.1%. The share of 698 US-controlled enterprises in total foreign-controlled turnover was 13.1%.
IT IS COMPILED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATISTICS IN EUROPE
Foreign controlled enterprise statistics include information about enterprises that operate domestically but are directly or indirectly under foreign control.
The data in question is compiled in accordance with the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 November 2019 on European business statistics and the Commission Implementing Regulation of 30 July 2020, which sets out the technical regulations in accordance with the European Business Statistics Regulation.
The economic indicators in this statistics were created from enterprise data included in the “structural business statistics” compiled and published by TURKSTAT.
