Togg Maintains Lead in Electric Car Sales, Selling 4,145 Vehicles in Q1

The sales leader in the Turkish electric car market in the first quarter of the year was Togg with 4 thousand 145 vehicles.

According to Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD) data, Turkiye’s automobile and light commercial vehicle total market grew by 25.2% in the first quarter compared to the same period last year, reaching 295 thousand 519 units.

During this period, automobile sales increased by 33.05% to 233 thousand 389 units, and light commercial vehicle sales increased by 2.6% to 62 thousand 130 units.

In the January-March period, the number of “full electric” car sales increased by 275.9%, reaching 14 thousand 158. The share of fully electric cars in total sales increased from 2.1% to 6.1%, and the share of hybrid cars increased from 11% to 14.2%.

When full electric, extended range electric and hybrid vehicles are considered, it is seen that 21.3% of the total market consists of vehicles with electric engines.

1 in every 3 electric cars sold was Togg T10X

According to ODMD data, Togg, which continues to rise among electric car brands, maintained its market leadership as of the first quarter of the year.

Togg, which sold 4 thousand 145 units in the January-March period, outperformed its closest rival by 2 thousand 533 units.

During this period, Togg’s electric car market share was recorded as 29.7%. In other words, approximately 1 in every 3 electric cars sold was Togg T10X.

German brands are following the top brands

It was seen that German brands were in the top 3 after Togg. These brands were followed by South Korean brands.

While BMW ranked second with 1612 sales, Mercedes Benz ranked third with 1064 units.

Ssangyong ranked fourth with 830 sales and Hyundai ranked fifth with 770 sales.

Among Chinese brands, MG sold the most electric cars with 768 units. MG was followed by BYD with 550 sales and Skywell with 96 sales.

US-based car manufacturer Tesla, which sold 375 cars in 3 months, could not enter the top 10.

Best selling electric car models

When looking at the electric car market by model, Togg T10X was the best-selling model. BMW 5 Series took second place, Ssangyong Torres took third place, MG4 took fourth place and Atto 3 took fifth place.
