Turkish Airlines orders 10 more Airbus A350-900s

Turkish Airlines is adding 10 additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft to its fleet, according to a public disclosure to the Istanbul stock market.

According to the statement, the new order is in line with the airline’s growth objectives and the new aircraft are scheduled to be delivered from 2025 through to 2027.

The new order is in addition to the airline’s previous order for 26 A350-900 aircraft, 14 of which have already been delivered and are in service.

However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the 10 aircraft are the first batch of the much-awaited mega-order that Turkish Airlines is said to be preparing. The upcoming order, which could be up to 600-strong, was mentioned by the airline’s chairman Ahmet Bolat in May 2023,as part of Turkish Airlines’ plan to double in size over the coming decade.

When it comes to its final composition, Turkish Airlines is expected to opt for a mix of 400 narrow-body and 200 wide-body aircraft. The order is also expected to be split between Airbus and Boeing in line with the airline’s current two-supplier fleet strategy and will likely include Airbus A320-family and B737 MAX aircraft as well as Boeing 787 and 777 and Airbus A350s.
