Turkiye: Deposits of the banking sector increased by ₺18.7 million

Total deposits of the banking sector increased by ₺18.7 billion in the week ending December 8, reaching ₺14 trillion 603.7 billion.

Weekly money and bank statistics were published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT).

Accordingly, total deposits in the banking sector (including interbank) increased by ₺18 billion 698 million 607 thousand in the week ending December 8, reaching ₺14 trillion 603 billion 743 million 742 thousand.

In the same period, TL deposits in banks increased by 0.22% to ₺8 trillion 273 billion 925 million 766 thousand, and foreign currency (FX) deposits decreased by 0.14% to ₺5 trillion 685 billion 181 million 370 thousand.

While total FX deposits in banks amounted to $207 billion 737 million last week, $175 billion 348 million of this amount was collected in the accounts of domestic residents.

Considering the data adjusted for parity effect, there was an increase of $485 million in the total FX deposits of domestic residents as of December 8.

Installment commercial loan amount increased

Consumer loans in deposit banks increased by 0.39% last week and reached ₺1 trillion 397 billion 809 million 97 thousand. In the same period, commercial installment loans increased by 0.10% to ₺1 trillion 219 billion 670 million 619 thousand, and credit card balances decreased by 0.66% to ₺1 trillion 424 billion 508 million 793 thousand.

Of the consumer loans in deposit banks, ₺397 billion 27 million 816 thousand consisted of housing, ₺69 billion 547 million 504 thousand from vehicle loans and ₺931 billion 233 million 777 thousand from other loans.

The total credit volume of the banking sector, including the CBRT, decreased by ₺11 billion 946 million 903 thousand in the week ending December 8, falling to ₺10 trillion 864 billion 984 million 30 thousand . Total loan volume increased by 53.76% compared to the same period last year.
