Turkiye’s Oil Imports Surge by 11.02% in January, Reaching 3.83 Million Tons

Turkiye’s total imports of oil and petroleum products increased by 11.02% in January compared to the same month last year, reaching 3 million 829 thousand 662 tons.

According to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority’s “Oil Market Sector Report” for January, imports of crude oil, which constitutes the largest item in Turkiye’s total oil imports, increased by 7.28% and reached 2 million 420 thousand 114 tons.

During this period, imports of diesel types increased by 31.10% and reached 1 million 18 thousand 649 tons.

The remaining part of imports consisted of aviation and maritime fuels, gasoline and fuel oil types and other products.

Thus, total imports increased by 11.02% in January compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 3 million 829 thousand 662 tons.

While the highest import of crude oil and petroleum products was from Russia with 2 million 562 thousand 952 tons, this country was followed by Iraq with 275 thousand 902 tons and Kazakhstan with 213 thousand 448 tons.

On the other hand, gasoline sales increased by 29.94% in January compared to the same month last year, reaching 341 thousand 921 tons, and diesel sales increased by 8.34% and reached 1 million 952 thousand 416 tons.

Total sales of petroleum products were recorded as 2 million 427 thousand 140 tons, with an increase of 9.72%.

Exports of petroleum products increased by 17.66%

While Turkiye’s aviation fuel exports increased by 22.23% in January compared to the same month last year, reaching 336 thousand 942 tons, marine fuel exports decreased by 3.44% and reached 109 thousand 940 tons.

Exports of gasoline types decreased by 6.14% to 48 thousand 292 tons, and exports of diesel types decreased by 41.04% to 199 thousand 311 tons.

Total exports in the oil market increased by 17.66% and reached 1 million 176 thousand 631 tons.

Production of diesel types reached 1 million 345 thousand 905 tons in January, decreasing by 3.18% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Production of gasoline types increased by 15.16% to 328 thousand 929 tons, and production of aviation fuels increased by 4.05% to 386 thousand 779 tons. Marine fuels production was calculated as 75 thousand 135 tons, with an increase of 4.61%.

Total refinery petroleum products production increased by approximately 11.41%, reaching 2 million 991 thousand 152 tons.
