Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 Index Rises 0.12% to 9,091.13 Points in Morning Trading

BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul gained 0.12% in the first half of the day, reaching 9,091.13 points.

BIST 100 index, which moved in an upward trend in the first half of the day, rose to 9,091.13 points, an increase of 11.16 points compared to the previous close, as of 13.00. The total transaction volume was ₺43.4 billion.

While the banking index gained 0.46%, the holding index lost 0.37%.

Among the sector indices, the only gainer was informatics with 3.39%, and the biggest decliner was chemistry, petroleum plastics with 0.78%.

Analysts stated that global equity markets completed the first quarter of the year with a positive trend, and said that today, the statements of US Federal Reserve (Fed) Chairman Jerome Powell and the personal consumption expenditure data, which the bank considers as an inflation indicator, became the focus of investors.

Analysts noted that there continues to be uncertainty about when the Fed will start reducing interest rates following growth data that came in above expectations in the US yesterday, and reported that markets in the US, Europe and Hong Kong are closed for trading today due to the Easter holiday.

Analysts noted that technically, 9,200 and 9,350 levels in the BIST 100 index are resistance, while 9,000 and 8,900 points are support.
