Bursa contributed to Turkiye’s exports with $4 billion of foreign sales in the first quarter

A contribution of $3 billion 989 million 231 thousand was provided to Turkiye’s exports in the first quarter, from Bursa, where important production is carried out especially in the automotive and textile fields.

According to the compilation made by the AA correspondent from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, while exports were made from Bursa to approximately 180 countries, free zones and autonomous regions in the January-March period, foreign sales from the city increased by 3.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The most exports from Bursa were made to Germany, one of Turkiye’s most important markets. Exports to this country in the first quarter of the year increased by 5.5% from $608 million 994 thousand to $642 million 201 thousand.

Exports to France, which is in second place, increased by 104.7% from $233 million 707 thousand to $478 million 418 thousand.

Exports to Spain, where $297 million 569 thousand were exported in the first quarter of last year, were recorded as $304 million 44 thousand with an increase of 2.2% in the same period of this year.

$1 billion 424 million 663 thousand of exports to Germany, France and Spain constituted 35.7% of the city’s total foreign sales.

Automotive sector signed an export of $1.7 billion

In Bursa, where giant companies such as OYAK Renault, TOFAS, Bosch and Karsan operate, the exports of the automotive industry in the January-March period amounted to $1 billion 728 million 398 thousand. Automotive exports of the city, where foreign sales of $1 billion 442 million 818 thousand were realized in the same period of last year, increased by 19.8%.

The foreign sales of the ready-made clothing and apparel industry, which ranks second in the city’s exports, decreased by 8.7% from $471 million 177 thousand to $430 million 239 thousand in the first quarter.

In the first quarter of the machinery and accessories sector, which ranks third in the list, there was an increase of 15.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. The steel industry export, which was $300 million 666 thousand in the January-March period of last year, increased to $346 million 745 thousand in the same period of this year.

The textile and raw materials sector contributed $333 million 913 thousand, the steel sector $211 million 797 thousand, the ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector $164 million 157 thousand, furniture, paper and forest products $204 million 980 thousand, chemicals and products $174 million 963 thousand, and the air-conditioning industry sector contributed $124 million 287 thousand to Bursa’s exports in the first quarter.

The city’s total exports in 17 sectors, mainly cement, leather and leather products, other industrial products, electricity and electronics, ship yachts and services, carpet, fresh fruit and vegetable sectors, amounted to $269 million 747 thousand.
