Iraq Leads Turkiye’s Export Growth in First Quarter, Surpassing $2.7 Billion in Exports

The country where Turkiye’s exports increased the most in terms of value in the first quarter of the year was Iraq with $691.5 million, while exports to this country exceeded $2.7 billion.

According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) data, Iraq took the lead with $691.5 million among the countries where Turkiye’s exports increased the most in terms of value in the first quarter of the year.

Iraq was followed by Romania with $489.3 million, the Netherlands with $324.2 million, Italy with $246.4 million and the USA with $241.8 million in export increase.

In the January-March period, exports of $2.7 billion were made to Iraq, $1.9 billion to Romania, $2 billion 30 million to the Netherlands, $3.1 billion to Italy and $3.2 billion to the USA.

Iraq became the 5th country with the most exports from Turkiye

In the first quarter of the year, Iraq became the 5th country with the most exports.

In the said period, the countries to which Turkiye made the most exports were Germany, the USA, Italy and the United Kingdom. Exports worth $4.6 billion were made to Germany and $3.2 billion were made to the United Kingdom.

In the first quarter, the grains, pulses, oilseeds and products sector made the most exports to Iraq with $583.8 million. The furniture, paper and forest products sector sold products worth $274.5 million, chemicals and products sold $265.2 million, the electrical and electronics sector sold $188.8 million, and aquatic products and animal products sold $167.4 million.

Most exports to Iraq were made from Istanbul

Istanbul-based companies made the highest exports to Iraq in the January-March period, with $785.6 million.

Istanbul was followed by Gaziantep with $453.2 million, Mardin with $196.8 million, Sirnak with $150.1 million, and Mersin with $149.6 million.
