The Turkish furniture industry, in recent years, has accelerated its activities to diversify export markets and achieved an increase of 11.2% as a result of the stability it has achieved, reaching $4.7 billion in exports.

According to the Furniture Associations Federation (MOSFED) statement, Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) shared Turkiye’s export data for last year. Accordingly, Turkiye’s exports rose to $254.2 billion in 2022.

While the Turkish furniture industry participated in fairs with industry representatives throughout the year, it also contributed significantly to export figures by making projects that would increase its effectiveness in its current markets. The exports of the sector increased by 11.2% to $4.7 billion.

Iraq, which ranked first in 2021, was at the top of the Turkish furniture industry exports. Iraq was in the first place with $538.4 million, followed by Germany with $402.5 million. “Now we will continue to work with the same seriousness to achieve our goals in 2023”

Ahmet Gulec, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MOSFED, whose views were included in the statement, stated that it is proud to witness the highest export figure in the history of the Republic, and that the furniture industry also contributed significantly to these figures, and said:

“As MOSFED, we have played an active role in the furniture industry to reach these figures, together with many associations representing our industry, of which we are the umbrella organization. During the year, orders fell from time to time due to many problems such as recession concerns, energy crisis, tensions between countries, other problems occurred in the market from time to time, but our manufacturers never gave up. They successfully completed the year 2022 by producing and exporting with high energy and effort. As we started 2022, our primary goal was to leave the previous year behind, and we have successfully accomplished this. Now we will continue to work with the same seriousness to achieve our goals in 2023.”

Stating that they aim to achieve a trade volume of approximately $3 billion with the International Istanbul Furniture Fair (IIFF), which they will organize in the near future, Gulec said, “We aim to complete 2023 with a figure of over $5 billion by increasing this figure with the fairs and promotional activities we will attend throughout the year.”
