Turkmenistan invited Turkiye to develop partnership in agriculture and water resources use

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking during his official visit to Türkiye at the opening of the Turkmen-Turkish business forum in Ankara, invited Turkish partners to develop cooperation in agriculture and rational use of water resources.

«Today, agriculture is among the main sectors of the economy. Our main task is to maintain the food security of our countries and contribute to international efforts in this direction, the head of state emphasized.

According to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, therefore, in Turkmenistan, significant funds are directed to the agricultural and agro-industrial sector, and its material and technical base is systematically improved.

«In this regard, we propose to increase cooperation and exchange of experience with Türkiye in the field of increasing agricultural yields, improving seed production and selection, and introducing new technological developments into production. We express our readiness to establish mutually beneficial relations with specialized Turkish companies in these areas, said the President of Turkmenistan.

According to the head of the Turkmen state, today the whole world is faced with climate change and other environmental threats, and in such conditions the role of water management is consistently increasing.

«We intend to modernize the water supply and distribution systems in our country, and we attach importance to regional and international partnerships in this important area, the head of state said.

The President of Turkmenistan also noted that along with this, one of the main tasks is to establish an effective partnership in the field of rational use of water resources and the introduction of water saving technologies.

«In this regard, it can be noted that specific projects include the reconstruction and expansion of the infrastructure of the bed and side canals of the Garagum River. We would like to express our readiness for close cooperation with specialized Turkish companies in these areas as well, the head of state emphasized.
