$972 million export from the Eastern Black Sea Region in 9 months

In the January-September period of this year, $972 million were exported from Trabzon, Rize, Artvin and Gumushane.

Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairman of the Board of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), in his written statement stated that in the 9 months of the year, $702 million 626 thousand 792 were exported from Trabzon, $175 million 349 thousand 645 from Rize, $49 million 398 thousand 91 from Gumushane and $44 million 626 thousand 934 from Artvin.

Kalyoncu stated that compared to the same period of last year, there was a 13% decrease in Trabzon exports and a 7% decrease in Gumushane exports, an 11% increase in Rize exports and a 9% increase in Artvin exports.

”Products were sold to 134 countries”

Pointing out that hazelnut is the leading export sector with $340 million 680 thousand 52 dollars, Kalyoncu said, “According to this, fresh fruit and vegetables are second with $148 million 262 thousand 676. Aquaculture and livestock products ranked third with $145 million 493 thousand 304, mining products fourth with $141 million 10 thousand 185, vehicles and sub-industry with $31 million 811 thousand 469.”

Kalyoncu noted that products were sold to 134 countries during the said period and stated that the 5 countries with the highest exports were the Russian Federation, Germany, Georgia, People’s Republic of China and Italy.

Pointing out that there has been a significant increase in exports to Peru, Vietnam, Denmark, Belarus, Japan, Chile and Kazakhstan, Kalyoncu noted that, unlike the same period of last year, exports were made to 13 more countries, mainly Ireland, Slovenia and Zambia.
