All-time record was broken in Turkey’s agricultural exports

Agricultural exports increased by 21.8% in October compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $2 billion 840 million 461 thousand, thus the agricultural sector realized the highest export sales of all time on a monthly basis. Among the sectors related to agriculture, the sector that increased its exports the most in this period was hazelnut and its products with 46.9%.

The agricultural sector achieved the highest monthly exports of all time with foreign sales exceeding $2.8 billion last month.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Turkey’s exports increased by 19.2% last month compared to the same period of 2020 and rose to $19 billion 76 million 662 thousand.

Agricultural exports increased by 21.8% in October compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $2 billion 840 million 461 thousand. Thus, the agricultural sector realized the highest export sales of all time on a monthly basis. Turkey’s agricultural exports accounted for 14.9% of total exports last month. In October, industrial exports increased by 18.8% to $15 billion 769 million 914 thousand, and mining exports increased by 18.4% to $466 million 287 thousand.

GRAINS, PULSES, OIL SEEDS AND PRODUCTS DIDN’T LEAVE THE LEADERSHIP

Among the sectors related to agriculture, cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products made the most exports with $903 million 561 thousand last month. Thus, the sector did not leave the leadership in agricultural exports.

Cereals, pulses, oil seeds and products were followed by furniture, paper and forest products with $615 million 126 thousand, fresh fruits and vegetables with $292 million 381 thousand, aquaculture and animal products with $289 million 497 thousand, hazelnuts and products with $251 million 315 thousand, dry fruits and products with $196 million 784 thousand, fruit and vegetable products with $181 million 772 thousand, tobacco with $76 million 773 thousand, olive and olive oil with $25 million 274 thousand, ornamental plants and products with $7 million 980 thousand.

DECREASE WAS SEEN IN ONLY 1 SECTOR IN THE AGRICULTURE GROUP

While 9 out of 10 sectors within the agriculture group increased their exports last month, only 1 sector decreased.

Among the sectors related to agriculture, the sector that increased its exports the most in this period was hazelnut and its products with 46.9%. The hazelnut and its products sector includes cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products with 35.5%, aquaculture and animal products with 23.3%, furniture paper and forest products with 16.8%, olive and olive oil with 14.9%, and 10%. Fresh fruit and vegetables with 8%, fruit and vegetable products with 7,9%, dried fruits and products with 3%, ornamental plants and products with 2,2%. The exports of the tobacco sector, on the other hand, decreased by 3.8%.

MOST DEMAND FOR SECTORS CAME FROM THE USA AND IRAQ

The highest demand for groups within the agricultural sector came from the USA and Iraq. Fruit and vegetable products, tobacco, olive and olive oil sectors were exported mostly to the USA, Cereals, pulses, oilseeds and their products, furniture, paper and forest products, fisheries and animal products were exported mostly to Iraq, hazelnut and its products, dried fruit and products sectors were exported mostly to Germany, ornamental plants and products sector exported to Netherlands the most, fresh fruit and vegetable sector exported the most to Russia.

Fruit and vegetable products exported to the USA $27 million 101 thousand, tobacco industry $16 million 63 thousand, olive and olive oil sector $4 million 340 thousand. Cereals, pulses, oil seeds and products were exported to Iraq for $191 million 69 thousand, furniture paper and forestry products $89 million 288 thousand, aquaculture and animal products sector $55 million 600 one. Hazelnut and its products were sold to Germany for $66 million 367 thousand, and dried fruits and products to $31 million 62 thousand. Ornamental plants and products sector exported $3 million 636 thousand to the Netherlands. Fresh fruit and vegetable sector exported $108 million 767 thousand to Russia.
