Istanbul Airport is getting new metro connection, see where the metro will pass & other details

The Istanbul Airport Metro project carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has come to an end. Minister Adil Karaismailoglu said, “We are opening the Kagithane-Istanbul Airport section soon.”

As the Gayrettepe – Istanbul Airport – Halkali Metro Line works are coming to an end, Minister Karaismailoglu on his Twitter account posted saying, “We are opening the Kagithane-Istanbul Airport section soon!”

The M11 (Gayrettepe – Istanbul Airport – Halkali) Metro Line will connect Gayrettepe, Istanbul Airport and Halkali on the European side of Istanbul, which will both relieve the passengers going to the airport economically and provide convenience in transportation.

Gayrettepe, Kagithane – Istanbul Airport metro will serve 120 million passengers with its current capacity by connecting 4 districts on a 37.5 kilometer route. With this project, the distance between Istanbul Airport and Taksim will be 30 minutes.

The metro, which has a daily capacity of 600 thousand passengers between a total of 9 stations, will go 120 kilometers per hour and will be the fastest metro in Turkiye.

It was built in two phases, “Gayrettepe – Istanbul Airport” and “Istanbul Airport – Halkali”. The route of the metro line consists of 8 stations between Gayrettepe and Istanbul Airport, and 9 stations between Istanbul Airport and Halkali.
