THY Technic Inc. collaborated with EFW for passenger-cargo aircraft conversion

Turkish Airlines (THY) Technic Inc. signed a cooperation agreement with ST Engineering, one of the most important companies in the industry, and Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW), a joint venture of Airbus, for Airbus A330 passenger-cargo aircraft conversions.

According to the statement made by the THY Press Office, the agreement ceremony, which was also attended by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoglu, was held between THY Technic Inc. Chairman of the Board Prof Dr Ahmet Bolat, Technic Inc. General Manager Mikail Akbulut and EFW CEO Jordi Boto.

With the cooperation agreement, THY Technic Inc. will be the first MRO (aircraft maintenance and repair) company to provide support for third-party conversions to the A330P2F program developed by EFW.

Within the scope of the agreement, the first A330P2F conversion is planned to be carried out in the third quarter of 2023, at the facilities of THY Technic Inc. in Istanbul.

THY Technic Inc. Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat stated that the strong and stable growth of the air cargo sector in recent years has become an efficient solution for airline operators to quickly meet the needs of passenger-cargo aircraft conversions.

Pointing out that this situation creates new business opportunities for aircraft manufacturers, lessors, MRO companies and airline operators, Bolat said:

“Passenger-cargo aircraft conversions are one of the most challenging among maintenance-repair and refurbishment activities. It requires expertise, experience and operational excellence. Our agreement has once again proven that our company is one of the most competent companies in the global MRO industry, having all these characteristics. We are delighted to be collaborating with EFW for the A330P2F and plan to further expand this partnership.”

EFW CEO Jordi Boto also pointed out that there has been a great interest and increasing demand for cargo aircraft conversion projects in the aviation industry in recent years.

Boto mentioned that the A330P2F program is increasingly preferred for cargo transformation projects of medium and wide body aircraft, thanks to the advantages it provides and new generation solutions. “I believe with all my heart that thanks to our cooperation with Turkish Technic, which has been working on Airbus aircraft for many years and has great experience in this regard, we will more easily and completely fulfill our commitments to our customers.”
