Turkish stock exchange up 2.3% at weekly open

Benchmark index rises 118.26 points from previous close

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index opened the week at 5,233.23 points on Monday, up 2.31%, or 118.26 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed Friday at 5,114.97 points, soaring by 3.13%, with a daily trading volume of 83 billion Turkish liras ($3.97 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 21.1530 as of 10.15 a.m. local time (0715GMT) and the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 22.6920,while a British pound traded for 26.2310 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $77.58 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,959.15.
