Turkiye’s 2-month honey export reached $5.1 million

Honey exports from Turkiye in the January-February period reached $5 million 179 thousand 996.

Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, told the AA correspondent that honey was exported from Turkiye to 29 countries in 2 months of the year.

Stating that honey exports reached 1256 tons in the January-February period, Kalyoncu stated that $5 million 179 thousand 996 of income was provided from this export.

Kalyoncu pointed out that the USA, Germany and the United Kingdom are the three countries with the most exports and said, “The USA ranked first in our honey exports with $1 million 944 thousand 149. The USA was followed by Germany with $1 million 73 thousand 904 and the United Kingdom with $265 thousand 531. Unlike the same period last year, honey was also exported to Azerbaijan, Canada, Oman, Malaysia, North Macedonia, France, Venezuela, Switzerland and Lebanon.”

Pointing out that honey is an important export product for the Eastern Black Sea region, Kalyoncu stated that honey worth $420 thousand 268 was exported from the region in the January-February period.

Kalyoncu emphasized that they expect honey exports to increase in the coming days and added that they believe the industry will reach much better points.
