$1.3 million income from tea export in 2 months in Rize

The income obtained from tea exports from Rize in the January-February period increased by 130% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $1 million 323 thousand 752.

Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union Deputy Chairman of the Board Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan said that 40% of Turkiye’s 2-month tea exports are made from Rize.

Stating that 372 tons of tea were exported from the city in the January-February period, Gurdogan stated that $1 million 323 thousand 752 were gained from the said exports.

Gurdogan noted that tea was sold to 11 countries from Rize and continued as follows:

“Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands became the 3 countries with the highest export volume. $1 million 121 thousand 477 were sold to Belgium, $70 thousand 494 to Germany and $49 thousand 495 to the Netherlands. In this period, exports were made to the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, United Arab Emirates and Serbia, which were different from the same period of last year.”

Pointing out that $574 thousand 569 were gained from 295 tons of tea exports from Rize in the same period of last year, Gurdogan said that exports increased by 26% in quantity and 130% in value, and that they believe this increase will continue.

Emphasizing that tea is an important export product for the city, region and country, Gurdogan added that they have high expectations from tea exports.
