43.000 Vehicles Exported from Sakarya in the First Quarter of the Year

Following Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Izmir, Ankara, and Gaziantep in external sales, Sakarya ranked 7th, signing exports worth $1,336,256,000 to 129 countries and 9 free zones during the January-March period.

Sectorally, the highest foreign sales from Sakarya occurred in the automotive sector, with 86.1%.

According to the Automotive Industry Association data, out of the 390,925 vehicles produced in Turkey in the first 3 months, 261,073 were exported.

With a 16.4% share of the export pie, Sakarya exported 42,845 out of the 66,129 vehicles produced in the first quarter, accounting for 64.7%.

In the “automotive city” where 6 out of every 10 vehicles are sold abroad, these sales contributed $1,151,226,000 to the country’s economy.

Leading in production and export in the first 3 months of the year among the companies in the city, Toyota maintained its leadership, followed by TürkTraktör and Otokar.

During this period, Toyota, hosting manufacturers such as Otokar and TürkTraktör in Sakarya, produced 51,700 cars, 572 minibusses, 457 buses, 221 light trucks, and 13,179 tractors, totaling 66,129 vehicles. Thus, 726 vehicles were produced daily.

While Toyota produced Corolla, Toyota C-HR, and the new generation Corolla Hybrid models at its factory in Arifiye district during this period, it sold 37,927 of them abroad.

Otokar, one of Turkey’s leading companies in the defense industry, produced 1,250 vehicles consisting of buses, minibusses, and light trucks during the same period. Exporting 379 vehicles in the January-March period of last year, Otokar sold 458 vehicles abroad this year, an increase of 20.5%.

During the same period, TürkTraktör contributed to the country’s economy by exporting 4,460 out of the 13,179 tractors it produced.
