Export of grains and pulses to 169 countries from the Southeast of Turkiye

In the first 9 months of the year, 3.3 million tons of grain were exported to 169 countries from Southeast Anatolia.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association, the cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products sector in the Southeast, where high quality and delicious agricultural products are grown with its climate and soil conditions, sent products to 169 countries in 9 months of the year.

Exporters in the region earned $2 billion 593 million 942 thousand in return for 3 million 318 thousand 626 tons of products sent abroad in 9 months.

The region’s highest income is from pasta

While pasta was the most sold product abroad, $490 million 144 thousand were obtained from the export of this product. Vegetable oils and wheat flour were the other products that exporters generated the most income. Iraq ranked first in the sector’s exports with $961 million 568 thousand. Iraq was followed by Syria with $216 million 655 thousand and the USA with $166 million 104 thousand.

Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association President Celal Kadooglu stated that the exporters of the sector in the region are increasing their foreign sales day by day.

Stating that agricultural products have an important place in the region’s exports, Kadooğlu said:

“The products in our region attract attention in terms of quality and taste. Our exporters continue production with this mission. Our region’s exports in 9 months increased by 25.6% compared to the same period of the previous year. The success of our exporters is also reflected in the figures. There are important pasta production enterprises in our region and we send pasta to abroad the most. We continue our studies and projects to increase the success of the sector in our region.”
