The number of tourists coming to Mugla exceeded 3 million in 2023

Mugla, one of Turkiye’s favorite tourism centers, hosted 3 million 395 thousand 947 foreign tourists in 2023.

Mugla, the tourism city with Turkiye’s longest coastline of 1484 kilometers and famous for its natural beauties and ancient cities, serves local and foreign guests with its facilities with a bed capacity of 340 thousand.

The city, which has a mooring capacity of 7 thousand 43 yachts in 26 marinas with tourism certificates, has a passenger capacity of 47 thousand 143 with 1512 commercial yachts and 637 daily tour boats with tourism certificates.

Offering various tourism opportunities to holidaymakers with its districts such as Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye, Datca, Ortaca, Milas and Ula, the city has become an indispensable address for those who want to enjoy the sea, sand and sun in the past year.

Governor Idris Akbiyik said that Mugla hosts millions of local and foreign visitors every year with its tourism potential created by its natural beauties and cultural riches.

Stating that the city has become a brand in world tourism and the number of visitors is increasing every year, Akbiyik said, “The number of tourists coming to the city in 2023 reached 3 million 395 thousand 947. Approximately 1.5 million of these are British. We hosted 2 million 977 thousand 103 tourists in the city last year. We are setting our goals even higher this year.”

Mugla is mostly preferred by the British

Emphasizing that it is pleasing that the number of foreign tourists visiting Mugla, which has 2 international airports such as Dalaman and Milas-Bodrum and 9 sea border gates, Akbiyik stated that approximately 10 million visitors came to the city last year, including local tourists.

Stating that the guests were hosted in the best way in the city, Akbiyik said that Mugla hosted the most British tourists last year.

Akbiyik stated that after the British, guests came from Russia, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and other countries, and approximately 1.5 million of the visitors were British.

Explaining that the guests are hosted in the best way in the tourism centers, Akbiyik noted that Mugla, one of the world’s important tourism destinations, stands out with its historical and natural beauties, ancient cities and luxury accommodation facilities as well as its sea, sand and sun.

Akbiyik pointed out that they have implemented many projects to make Mugla one of the world’s leading tourism centers. He stated that relevant infrastructure and superstructure investments have been put into effect, and intense efforts have been made to protect the natural beauties that give life to tourism and to bring historical and cultural riches to cultural tourism.

Pointing out that Mugla has a rich variety of alternative tourism apart from the sea, sand and sun trio, Akbiyik said:

“Mugla ranks first in our country in terms of alternative tourism diversity. Cultural tourism, sports tourism, health tourism, plateau tourism, rafting, hiking, cycling, water sports tourism, yacht tourism, camping-caravan tourism constitute the diversity of alternative tourism in our city. Our province, which has the longest coastline in our country with a coastline of 1484 kilometers, is the center of yacht tourism, famous for its blue cruises. In addition, there are 289 track areas in our city with suitable geographical conditions for extreme sports.”

Akbiyik added that 233 thousand 314 paragliding flights were made last year from Babadag, at an altitude of 1965 in Fethiye district, and there was an increase compared to previous years.
