Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) Turkiye-Georgia Business Council President Osman Caliskan, in his evaluation to the AA correspondent, said that they see Georgia as a gateway to the Caucasus and that they want to make more sales to Georgia and the Caucasus region.

Pointing out that they reached the target of $3 billion in bilateral trade volume between the two countries last year, Caliskan said, “We predict that the trade volume will reach $5 billion this year. We also want to sell more goods to the Caucasus region through Georgia.”

Caliskan stated that construction materials, food and textile products stand out in Turkiye’s exports to Georgia, and that Georgia also has rich resources in minerals.

Caliskan said that world-famous textile brands opened factories in Georgia for sewing and that this contributed greatly to the country’s employment, and stated that they, as the Georgia International Investors Association, provided employment to 21 thousand people.

Caliskan stated that the European Union does not impose a quota on Georgia, and if a company or brand makes more than 51% of its production here, it can send its products to Europe without a quota with the “Made in Georgia” label.

Stating that Georgia is in the seventh place in the world in the list of countries where business can be done, Caliskan drew attention to the importance of the country’s proximity to Turkiye, Europe and the Caucasus regions.

Stating that they support more Turkish investors to come to Georgia, Caliskan said, “If Turkish investors want to expand abroad, we recommend Georgia. Because the logistics area is closer. A textile product you sew in Georgia can be delivered to Istanbul within 24 hours by sea, air or land.”

Stating that investors from various countries are interested in this country, Caliskan said, “Entrepreneurs establish companies and do business here. There are many investment opportunities in Georgia. Land and building support is provided to investors. There are also agricultural land and grant support for those who invest in the agricultural sector.”

Caliskan emphasized that Georgia is not only a neighbor, but also a friendly and brotherly country, and said, “Although Georgia is a small country, it is important because it is a gateway to the Caucasus. We need to provide support not only in trade, but also in cultural and educational activities.”
