The number of foreign tourists arriving in Antalya by air between January and August increased by 20% compared to the same period last year, exceeding 11 million.
Kaan Kavaloglu, President of the Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers and Operators Association, stated in his statement that tourism activity in the city continues intensively.
Stating that the number of foreign tourists coming to the city by air in the 8 months of the year exceeded 11 million, Kavaloglu said:
“The number of guests coming from Russia, our main market, increased by 32.5% compared to the same period last year. The most preferred holiday destination by Russians was Antalya. Our other large-volume source is Germany. We hosted more than 2 million German tourists from here. There is a growth of 17.3% in this market. Germany has a significant potential in terms of numbers and expenditures, so we have high expectations from this market. We expect demand from Germany to increase even more, especially in the winter period.”
“There was a 15% growth”
Pointing out that an all-time record was broken in the UK market, which ranks third among the countries sending the most tourists to the city, with nearly 1 million visitors, Kavaloglu pointed out that there was a 15% growth in this market compared to last year.
Explaining that this country is followed by Poland, Kavaloglu said, “Poland is an important resource with great potential. There was a 40% increase compared to last year.”
Kavaloglu noted that there was a serious loss in the Ukrainian market due to the war, but a growth trend has been achieved recently.
Stating that Ukraine, which has seen a demand increase exceeding 100%, ranks 10th, Kavaloglu emphasized that they expect the increase to continue during the winter period.
